Running Accomplishments:

2008 = 10 races, 3 PR's, 1 first place in age division

I started running in 2006 at age 38/39.  I figured the best way to kick the smoking habit for good was to sign up for a marathon.  (I tend to be alittle extreme)

My first full marathon was the Chicago Marathon 2006 (cold, rainy year) 5:00

Full Marathons: Chicago, Kentucky Derby

Half Marathons:  Indy, Chicago Distance Classic (3 times cool medal), Holy Half (Notre Dame), IU's Inaugural, Joker's Wild (St Louis), Oak Brook Half (ugly medal),Valparaiso Mini, Flying Pig, Virginia Beach Rock N Roll  Times ranging from 2:30 to 2:00.

 

Short-Term Running Goals:

I really would like to qualify for Boston in 2009. 

 

Personal:

I'm married to an incredible guy, Brian for 20 years (21 in May)!!  We have an amazing 17 year old (soon to be 18) daughter, Heather.  The two are my support system and cheerleaders.

a.m. Ran Rolling Prairie with Greg (3)  and Jen (6).  It was cold and breezy. Great feeling to be done.

This week's goal:

Sun 6 mi, Mon 5 mi, Tues 5 mi, Thurs 6 mi, Fri 6 mi, Sat 5 mi

a.m. Treadmill - chunked through 1 mile, my mind wouldnt shut off, I knew I couldnt get all 5 miles in this morning. Bottom line.... excuse excuse excuse..... I WILL run my 5 miles tonight after work.  (while the turkey's cooking....yum)

p.m. Treadmill. It was really hard to stay on it.  I knew that if I didn't put the miles in I would be mad at myself at the end of the week when I couldn't type "GOAL MET".  Anyway got it done went upstairs and ate turkey (umm mashed potatoes and gravy too)

p.m. Ran outside Rolling Prairie with Jen and Rick. The sidewalks in La Porte are still ice covered and only partially shoveled. So we decided to run in the country where people are finally getting used to seeing us.

p.m. Powercut class with Kelly.  You would think after all the times we've gone it would start to get easier.  I definately have balance issues!!!

p.m. Ran in Rolling Prairie with Greg, Jen and Rick.  It was warmer 22 degrees but 25 mph winds. Made it rough.  Tonight more than anything I really appreciate my running friends, if it weren't for them I would not have went out.  If it wasn't for my commitment to this blog I probably would have cut it short.

a.m. Treadmill   1/2 mile warm up, ran 6 miles, 1/2 mile cooldown walk at 7.5 incline.

 

One more day to reach my week goal AND my month goal.   :)  Maybe the dry erase board hanging in my bedroom (with daily running schedule for the month and dorky motivational comments) and the dry erase board hanging next to the treadmill (with daily reminder of miles todo and completed with my quote "BOSTON DOESN'T JUST HAPPEN" wrote across the top  is working. Oh yea... there's also the log I carry in my purse and my running blog buddies and my running friends.  (I'm NOT crazy... ??? ... I just don't want the excuse that I didn't have a plan)

Heather would just die if she seen that run on sentence. hee hee hee
