Boston Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

2008 = 10 races, 3 PR's, 1 first place in age division

I started running in 2006 at age 38/39.  I figured the best way to kick the smoking habit for good was to sign up for a marathon.  (I tend to be alittle extreme)

My first full marathon was the Chicago Marathon 2006 (cold, rainy year) 5:00

Full Marathons: Chicago, Kentucky Derby

Half Marathons:  Indy, Chicago Distance Classic (3 times cool medal), Holy Half (Notre Dame), IU's Inaugural, Joker's Wild (St Louis), Oak Brook Half (ugly medal),Valparaiso Mini, Flying Pig, Virginia Beach Rock N Roll  Times ranging from 2:30 to 2:00.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I really would like to qualify for Boston in 2009.

Personal:

I'm married to an incredible guy, Brian for 20 years (21 in May)!!  We have an amazing 17 year old (soon to be 18) daughter, Heather.  The two are my support system and cheerleaders.

Ran outside with Brian (on bicycle).  It was cold... but I know Spring is just around the corner???

This weeks Goal:

6 days X 7 miles each.

Sun/Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri/Sat

Brian and I are going to Butler University tomorrow to talk to the financial aid department. (Our daughter, Heather got accepted into their Pharmacy Program). Butler's approximately 2-3 hours away. Plan to run when we return.

Shew....Felt like Superwoman today.... after returning from Butler (all day adventure). I walked in changed into outside running clothes, ran 4 miles, came back into house changed into inside running clothes (it was getting dark out) ran 3 miles on the treadmill.  Wiped down the treadmill with Lysol wipes. Went into home gym weight trained Shoulders. Ran upstairs, took a shower, did dishes, made salads for the week, cooked supper and was just finishing stuff up when Brian walked in from working out at gym.  Sometimes I amaze myself.

I had my first "my only child's going to college 3 hours away meltdown".

Ok... looks like today is my rest day. I spent 2 hours in a dentist chair. It's been a little over an hour and 3/4 of my face is still numb.  Grrr.  I'd probably end up slipping in my drool, biting my tongue (literally) or smacking myself in the eye with my flopping lip.

This is the first week in 7 weeks that I didn't make my goal. Bummed. But that's okay, getting over it and moving on.  Heather spilled pink nail polish on fairly new carpet in morning. She was running late for school and I had to be to work on time....so instead of running in the evening I spent my time (2 1/2 hours) trying to get out the polish.  It wasn't just a little from the brush. The bottle dropped of the dining room table, splattered on floor, out of reaction she picked up quickly which added more mess, flinging it further. Accidents happen.  It could have very easily happened to me. I ended up taking scissors and snipping out most of it because it stayed pretty much at the top of the carpet pile. Shew.

Ok...I could think of a gazillion excuses. Bottom line was I was lazy.  It was cold and windy and I didn't want to face the treadmill.

So..... I missed my goal this week.  Next week is a fresh start.
