Boston Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

2008 = 10 races, 3 PR's, 1 first place in age division

I started running in 2006 at age 38/39.  I figured the best way to kick the smoking habit for good was to sign up for a marathon.  (I tend to be alittle extreme)

My first full marathon was the Chicago Marathon 2006 (cold, rainy year) 5:00

Full Marathons: Chicago, Kentucky Derby

Half Marathons:  Indy, Chicago Distance Classic (3 times cool medal), Holy Half (Notre Dame), IU's Inaugural, Joker's Wild (St Louis), Oak Brook Half (ugly medal),Valparaiso Mini, Flying Pig, Virginia Beach Rock N Roll  Times ranging from 2:30 to 2:00.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I really would like to qualify for Boston in 2009.

Personal:

I'm married to an incredible guy, Brian for 20 years (21 in May)!!  We have an amazing 17 year old (soon to be 18) daughter, Heather.  The two are my support system and cheerleaders.

a.m. Dreadmill, didnt want to take the time to match, put my contacts in or worry about my hair so I headed to the weight room in the basement. It was fine since I was very limited on time and it was still pitch dark outside.

p.m. Went to gym with Brian. Weight Trained- Back, 15 minutes on Stepmill Prog 1 Level 6.

I have never really ran much on a treadmill. Does it feel just like regular running or is there a difference? I'm wondering if I will have to resort to a treadmill when winter gets nasty around here.

Way to get it in! 2 miles on the treadmill is AWESOME!! :) Have a great day!

I never worry about my hair heading out for a run, and my wife does not either. It is going to get messed up anyway in a mile or two.

Awe, come on Sahsa ;)

My hair looks HORRIBLE before and after the run. I figure it is a sort of personal protection ;)

April - I personally think I run differently on a treadmill, my strides are shorter and kinda feel like a hamster scurrying to not fall off. Ok maybe not that bad. But it does take me a while to relax and go with a more natural stride. Also, it's very easy to quit on a treadmill. Where as if you're outside you need to atleast run back.

Sasha:

I know a ponytail is a ponytail.

Marion:

My personal protection is the bags under my eyes (or sometimes slung over my shoulder) hee hee
