Boston Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

2008 = 10 races, 3 PR's, 1 first place in age division

I started running in 2006 at age 38/39.  I figured the best way to kick the smoking habit for good was to sign up for a marathon.  (I tend to be alittle extreme)

My first full marathon was the Chicago Marathon 2006 (cold, rainy year) 5:00

Full Marathons: Chicago, Kentucky Derby

Half Marathons:  Indy, Chicago Distance Classic (3 times cool medal), Holy Half (Notre Dame), IU's Inaugural, Joker's Wild (St Louis), Oak Brook Half (ugly medal),Valparaiso Mini, Flying Pig, Virginia Beach Rock N Roll  Times ranging from 2:30 to 2:00.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I really would like to qualify for Boston in 2009.

Personal:

I'm married to an incredible guy, Brian for 20 years (21 in May)!!  We have an amazing 17 year old (soon to be 18) daughter, Heather.  The two are my support system and cheerleaders.

Ok, they finally posted the results.  I just wanted to confirm with my watch before blogging.

Here's a breakdown of the race, (never seen mile marker 1,3, & 4)

Mile 1 & 2 =  17:18

Mile 3,4,5  =  28:08

Mile 6  =  9:30

Mile 7 = 10:28

Mile 8 = 9:46

Mile 9 = 10:13

Mile 10 = 10:43

Mile 11 = 10:30

Mile 12 = 10:20

Mile 13 = 11:33

It wasnt as hilly as they made it out to be but wasn't flat either. Nice combo.  Jen ran it in 1:51.  :)

a.m. Red and I went out for a slow run.  He really didnt want to go....I had to tug him out of the garage, but once we hit the road he was fine.  My ankle is sore almost like I sprained it. I'm not sure why, I haven't even twisted it.

p.m. What a perfect night for a run. 65 degrees and rain .... downpour.  I absolutely love running in the rain and splashing in the puddles.  Ran in Rolling Prairie with Greg, Jen and Rick.  Refreshing.  We were completely soaked. Not sure how long it's going to take my shoes to dry out.  It wasn't raining when I packed my clothes this morning, so I packed my new shoes (less than 100 miles on them). Grrrr

a.m. Limited time, forced myself to get on treadmill .... walked 1 mile

p.m. Hit the gym, it's been awhile.  WT:  Shoulders  Cardio: 20 minutes on Stepmill, 1 mile of treadmill hill program.  My plan was to run home from gym (5 miles) - the cold downpour changed my mind, rode home with hubby.

A Big GooseEgg for any type of fitness today.  Worked over 2 hours, Alot going on, which use to bug me when others use as an excuse.  I just read Marion's blog and now I really feel like a slug.

a.m.  walk/run w Red 2.25 miles.  Red was less than enthusiatic to go but once I tugged him out of the garage... he was fine.

p.m. Walk/Ran with Kelly 5.3 miles through LaPorte. Ran up the overpass (our version of a bridge).  Felt great.  Just the confidence builder I needed.  Saturday is a friend little competition at our local festival in a 5k against our 3 Edward Jones offices.

Went around the school block, I always thought it was 4 miles, I think it may be closer to 3.75 miles.  Took Red (dog) with me, thought we'd just go for a nice walk, he acted like he wanted to run.  So it turned into a slow run. We stopped a few times so I could cool him down with some water since his tongue was about to drag the ground.  We finally made it back, he laid down and slept most of the day. Hope I didnt break him.  Was planning on going out later for another round (by myself) and possibly some biking (bicycle) but instead took off with friends for a motorcycle ride to dinner.

Kelly & I decided to change things up and do something different each Wednesday.  Tonight we rode bikes 7.7 miles. It was getting dark and we wasn't prepared. No reflective gear, no lights.  If it would have been our kids out there they probably would have been grounded.

Ran w Red this morning.  He seemed alittle sluggish, must not be feeling well so we took it easy.  Crazy dog.

a.m. Snuck out the front door to avoid Red seeing me and wanting to go. (or saundering out to follow me a little ways).  I wanted to try a new route that I came up with (with the help of activetrainer.com). It was a 11 miles loop, well kinda a figure eight.  I knew Red couldnt keep up or be able to make it so I had to be sneaky.  The route was incredible. Just enough hills to give it a challenge, hardly any traffic, encountered only one house that had the dogs out.  Perfect morning for a run.

a.m. Short run w Red. It was foggy & gloomy.  2.25 miles

p.m. Ran to the gym to catch a ride home with Brian, only to discover he left already. So gave him a call and started back home.  He picked me up less than a mile back.  5.75 miles

p.m. Probably shouldnt even count this one. Had to take Red out for walk/run, he was cooped up all day in the garage, I felt bad.
